If Apple leads us into the age of optical connectors to our peripherals, will that apply to cameras and storage devices.  Are they fast enough to take the data in without crashing from information overload?

Can a camera download data fast enough to use an optical connector? Can a flash card be written to fast enough?

If not now, can they do it say by next Fall? This will make plenoptic cameras more reasonable to work with.
