edhat.com reports that "Experimental Visualization Lab (ExpVisLab) at UC Santa Barbara has received from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation and the National Science Foundation grants totaling $224,000 to support scholarly work in data visualization and computational photography."

George Legrady Studio and the Experimental Visualization Lab focus on research and experimental projects in the areas of data visualization, computational photography, and interactive installation. Emphasis is on aesthetic research through algorithmic processes, semantic categorization and the implementation of complex technologies for new forms of content, narratives, experiences and analysis. 

George Legrady is Professor of Interactive Media, and director of the Experimental Visualization Lab. He holds a joint faculty appointment in the Media Arts & Technology doctoral program and in theDepartment of Art at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
